Eymet, situated in the Dordogne, is a picturesque medieval village which stands at the entrance to the Southern Perigord in Southwest France. Eymet is a Bastide or fortified village situated on the edge of the river Dropt dating from the 15th Century and it is full of character properties including stone cottages and half timbered houses and has the remains of a feudal castle. The village square, still it's in original form with central fountain, is the heart of village life with its traditional market every Thursday and during the summer months its lively night markets on a Tuesday. Here you can discover the gastronomy and arts of the region during its many festivals including wine (of course!) flowers, vintage cars, oysters and local food festivals, music and amateur artists, these festivals are popular with locals and tourists alike. Eymet is a village to suit everyone with a creche, primary and secondary schools, doctors, dentist, banks, post office and numerous good quality restaurants and bars nestled under the arcades of the local square. The village is just 25kms (16 miles) from Bergerac airport served by low cost airlines and just an hour and a half to Bordeaux airport. There are rail links from Bergerac and Marmande, both within a half hour drive all to all over France. The region itself which also borders the Lot and Garonne has plenty of attractions to suit all tastes from cycling, walking, golf, swimming, horse riding or just relaxing with a chilled glass of wine and topping up your tan.
